The Final Chapter in the
William Jefferson Box Smith Story
There are several posts on this blog concerning William Jefferson Box alias William Jefferson Smith. Click here and here. One of the remaining mysteries concerning William was his death date and place. Thanks to a diligent researcher, that mystery was solved and we now know when and where William died.
According to his death certificate and obituary, William Jefferson Smith died 23 May 1911 in St Louis, Missouri. William died of Mitral Regurgitation (a leaky mitral valve) and had been ill for at least three months. He was buried on 25 May 1911 in the Calvary Cemetery in St Louis.
