Maymie Pearl Wilson Martin was born 14 July 1905 in her maternal grandparents log cabin near the little town of Estelle, Oklahoma. Her family moved around Oklahoma and New Mexico in a covered wagon until about 1918 when they settled in the southeastern corner of Utah. They then moved across the state line into Colorado near Dove Creek.
